Prusiksnor 3 mm - 5 m
Prusiks cord is used to secure the climber to the climbing rope during abseiling / rappelling. Typically, it is recommended to choose a prusik cord with a diameter that is half the size of the climbing rope itself, which means that prusik cords between 5 and 7 mm are the most common. A 3 mm cord attaches well if used in conjunction with a prusik knot. However, it should not be used as backup prusik where personal security is at stake. That's too thin for that. On the other hand, a prusik knot can be used in connection with hauling of bags, gear and other equipment that hangs on the rope for example for longer climbing routes.
